More research from our team

Our respected research team is carrying out a diverse range of projects developing our understanding of cardiovascular disease, including important new work with dogs and apes.

Studies focused on the canine model

Dr Catrin Rutland,  Professor Nigel Mongan, Dr Mark Dunning and Professor Malcolm Cobb are advancing understanding of cardiomyopathies and valve disorders in canine populations by discovering genes linked to these disorders and developing treatments and diagnosis tools.

Dr Mark DunningDr Nigel Mongan and Dr Catrin Rutland are using epidemiology-based approaches alongside molecular genetics to understand cardiovascular diseases in canine patients throughout the world.

Professor Rob White is studying clinical approaches and the evaluation of vascular disease in companion animals.

Professor Nigel Mongan, Dr Catrin RutlandDr Mark Dunning and Dr Simone de Brot are exploring the diagnosis of canine cardiovascular disease.

Professor Malcolm Cobb is furthering our understanding of the clinical diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease.

Dr Catrin RutlandProfessor Nigel Mongan and Professor Malcolm Cobb are researching the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of cardiomyopathies and valve disorders using genetic, physiological and metabolic approaches.

Studies focused on the ape model

Professor Kate White, Dr Kate Cobb and Dr Kerstin Baiker are leading The Great Ape Heart Project, which aims to better understand ape cardiovascular disease and development.

Studies focused on human patients

Dr Catrin Rutland is exploring the developmental genetics and morphology of human cardiovascular disorders.
