Biography

I Began my Veterinary career in 2000 working as a trainee veterinary nurse at a small animal practice in ilkeston derbyshire, I trained with a combination of on the job portfolio work and regular block release to Myerscough agricultural college. I gained my NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Veterinary nursing and was officially placed on the list of RCVS Veterinary nurses in 2004.

Since then I have worked at various small animal practice including a small orthopeadic and soft tissue refferal centre, where I was head Veterinary nurse. My specific areas of interest are in anaesthesia and critical care nursing.

I have only recently joined the school of Veterinary medicine and science in 2010.

Expertise Summary

Phil is Team leader in the live animal and clinical skills department and assists in the preparation and storage of teaching material and equipment for animal practical's I also manage the care and husbandry of the Vet school animals

I am involved in many of the animal handling and husbandry practical's and session lead for some Practical techniques sessions module in Year 3 of the course.
