Science, Technology and Society Priority Group

Making Science Public research programme officially launched

On 11th February 2013, a series of lectures and panel discussions were held at the University of Nottingham to launch Making Science Public: a five year, Leverhulme-funded, major research programme.

Making Science Public, the STS Priority Group’s flagship programme, is made up of an interdisciplinary grouping of researchers from the University of Nottingham, the University of Sheffield and the University of Warwick. The team are pursuing nine sub-projects which explore the challenges involved in making science more public, how attempts to do so are changing the relationship between science, politics and publics, and ask about the normative implications relating to political legitimacy, scientific authority and democratic participation.
