University of Nottingham Sport offers a wide range of opportunities for members of staff, associates and postgraduate students to keep fit, have fun and meet new people.

Whether taking part in one of our sports courses, joining staff sports clubs or participating in one of our events - there really is something for everyone!

Staff Sports and Fitness Membership

Our staff sports and fitness memberships offer excellent value for money here at the University of Nottingham as well as the convenience of being based on the same campus as your workplace.

As well as the £40million David Ross Sports Village, staff membership also includes access to our sports centres on Jubilee and Sutton Bonington campuses and fitness suite on Kings Meadow campus, as well as free access to staff sport sessions. To find out more, please click here.

New to the University?

If you are a new permanent employee at the University of Nottingham, you are entitled to a free 30-day trial of our staff sport and fitness membership. For more details please contact our Membership Officer via email or on 0115 74 86213. Please note, all free trials must be activated within 30 days of your employment start date and do not currently include access to Kings Meadow campus. 

Staff Sport Eligiblity

Our Staff Sport programme has been designed for members of staff and postgraduate students. Whilst undergraduate students are able to attend, we'd recommend you visit our Just Play website and check out that timetable. 

Alumni and associates of the University are able to access our Staff Sport sessions if they have an alumni membership. Further information on our offer for alumni can be found here. 

Staff Sport Timetable 

Our Staff Sport programme offers a flexible way for staff and postgraduate students to try out new sports and meet colleagues in a fun and friendly environment. 

Sessions are open to all regardless of skill or ability. You can attend as many sessions as you wish, with no weekly commitment to attend and no requirement to purchase a UoN sport and fitness membership. Please check this page regularly for timetable updates. 

Pre-booking is optional and bookings can be made up to 5 days before a session is due to take place. Bookings can be made online here. If you experience any difficulties with pre-booking, please contact our If you experience any difficulties, please contact our Staff Sport Team.

Non-members
  • Register for a Pay As You Go (PAYG) account online

  • Once your account has been activated, you'll be able to pre-book onto an activity using the links in the  timetable  below. Bookings will open five days before the session is due to take place and the sessions will be available under the 'Just Play' category. 
  • Payment will be required at the time of booking. Should you need to cancel or rearrange a booking please contact our Reception team either in person or over the phone to ensure payment is transferred to the new booking. 

  • Once payment has been made, the booking will be loaded onto your student card, and you'll be able to swipe at the turnstile and head straight to your chosen activity. 

 
Members

Staff and Postgraduate Squash Club

The squash club is open to staff, postgraduate students, graduates of the University of Nottingham and associate members of the sports facilities. Membership of the Squash Club is currently £10 per annum and you must have UoN Sport and Fitness membership for access to the courts.

Social and competitive squash is organised for players of all standards. The internal leagues are run throughout the year and there is an annual knockout tournament and several social evenings where various competitions are held.

There is a Club Night every Sunday between 6pm and 8pm (see the timetable above) when both members and non-members are welcome to come along and play. Members will be admitted for free whilst non-members will pay a fee of £3 (payable online or at Reception upon arrival).

Get active with our free UoN Moves+ app

Whether you’re walking with friends, going for a run to clear the cobwebs or cycling to the shops to get the daily pint of milk - you can earn points through the University of Nottingham Moves+ app.

There will be many challenges running throughout the year (cycling, walking, running and swimming) so make sure you sign up, get involved and start earning yourself some points. We also have Campus walking routes available.
