25 Mile Time Trials medal for Nottingham riders

University of Nottingham Women's 2023 BUCS Time Trials

Our University of Nottingham cyclists continued their fantastic form from the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) Track Championships at the beginning of the month by claiming a bronze medal in the 25 Mile Time Trials women’s team competition.

On a wet and windy day in Cambridge, sports scholar Gaby Homer and Isabel Ellis put in fantastic performances amongst a very competitive field to finish third as a team at the event. The duo finished within a second of each other in seventh and ninth individually overall, but their combined performances earned a superb bronze medal.

Speaking on the success, Isabel told UoN Sport that “our main focus of the year was BUCS track cycling at the beginning of March which is a very different event to this one so we weren’t really expecting much. To come away with solid performances for everyone and another medal was pretty cool, especially with more events still to come.”

This is an event in which the club didn’t place in any category last year so as Isabel highlights, to come away with a medal highlights the great progression that the cycling club are making both on the track and road.

We congratulate all of our riders on their success with Tilly Gurney, Matt Dennis, Matt Brown, Edward Rees, Leo Bungay and Dylan Theedam-Parry putting in great performances too.

There are more events to come for University of Nottingham Cycling as the club are hosting the BUCS 10 Mile Time Trial Championships at the end of April in Nottingham and are hoping for more success, this time on home roads.
