Green and Gold achievements celebrated at Mo Awards 2024

University of Nottingham were shortlisted for several awards at the 2024 Movember Awards, hosted on Thursday 22nd July at EartH (Evolutionary Arts Hackney).

Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's suicide.

2023 was a fantastic year for the UoN Movember family; over 1400 students stood up, answered the call and helped change the face of men’s health. A staggering total of £111,869 was raised by the #GreenandGold, making 2023 our most successful campaign to date!

Over the course of the evening, the University of Nottingham Men’s Hockey Team won the Team Movember award and the University of Nottingham received Double Platinum status.

The event celebrated the achievements of a variety of people including fundraisers, both individual and teams, from an inspiring community, filled with many brilliant people, teams and companies.

Team Movember – Men's Hockey

This award goes to the team who showed the most impressive collaboration in coming together in the name of men’s health.

Alongside the highlight of their campaign – their annual hockey match- members of the club shaved their heads, ran auctions, and performed skydives.”  - Movember

Showing How It’s Done – Joe Gomersall

This award recognises those individuals with the most inspirational stoires, and made it their mission to change attitudes and behaviours, the Movember way.

2023 saw Joe, who is also a Men’s Health Active Ambassador, take the UoN Men’s Futsal team on a Movember journey. The group implemented mental health practices at the start of every training session. Each session began and ended with honest and open dialogue around mental health, creating genuine culture of support. When it came to fundraising, Joe led by example again, running a half marathon and dyeing his hair into a dapper leopard print, making sure the Movember cause could not be ignored.

Everyone at University of Nottingham Sport would like to extend a huge congratulations to everyone in the #GreenandGold family on their well-deserved nominations and award wins! We would also like to acknowledge everyone involved in helping to make 2023 another magnificent year for the Movember campaign at the University of Nottingham!
