University of Nottingham Sport is delighted to see scholars Katie Curtis and Conor Williamson have been called up to the England Women's and Men's senior squads respectively for the upcoming 100th Anniversary Spanish Hockey Federation International Tournament starting from 25th July. The Women's team will play two-legged ties against the hosts Spain and India, while the Men's team will take on the Netherlands, Spain, and India in the round-robin stage of the tournament.

We'd like to congratulate both athletes on this accolade after a great season for both on the pitch in our #GreenandGold. University of Nottingham Women's Hockey 1st team captain Curtis lifted the Women's BUCS National Championship trophy as her side were victorious at BUCS Big Wednesday. Men's Hockey scholar Conor Williamson also tasted championship success in the Men's BUCS National Championship final, before also being crowned Men’s Junior Performance Player of the Year at the 2023 England Hockey Awards. We hope both players enjoy being a part of the national set-up and look forward to their performances at the tournament.

Further embedding the University of Nottingham's reputation as a leading Hockey programme, University of Nottingham Sport and Nottingham Hockey Centre is set to play host to the England Hockey Talent Academy Festival, presented by Sunbelt Rentals UK and Ireland over three days from Saturday 29th to Monday 31st July. The event brings together all the Talent Academies across England along with teams from Wales and Ulster to play against each other and is an opportunity to celebrate collectively the progress of the Talent System.

The festival is the largest outdoor junior hockey event in the country and will see 48 teams – 24 girls’ and 24 boys’ teams play 72 matches over 6 pitches at our fantastic facilities a short distance from our University Park campus at Nottingham Hockey Centre. With over 800 players and 1500 spectators expected cheering them on, it will be a great showcase for topflight hockey and a scouting opportunity for England age group selections.

As well as the hockey, teams will stay together on the university campus and have access to other elements which make-up a high performance environment, including video analysis and  physiotherapy support, as well as a university exhibition and a hockey retail store. We look forward to welcoming England Hockey, all attendees, players, coaches and families to Nottingham for a fantastic event.
