University of Nottingham Sport is looking forward to a new season of BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) action with hundreds of teams across a host of sports taking on fellow universities from up and down the United Kingdom.

The first major fixture of the season will see University of Nottingham Men’s Rugby Union Club begin their BUCS Super Rugby campaign against the University of Loughborough on 27th September. This fixture will pit the two top universities in recent BUCS rankings against each other, and to prepare for the fixture Nottingham’s Men’s Rugby Union first team have continued their use of In-Play Sports’ cloud-based video analysis platform In-Play Online throughout this preseason.

In-Play Sports provide video analysis software and other performance analysis services to sports teams and athletes, and work with professional football clubs in the Premier League right the way down to grassroots hockey and rugby clubs.

2023-24 will be the second BUCS Super Rugby season that our Men’s Rugby Union programme have worked with In-Play Sports, whilst the University of Nottingham has been working with the sports technology company for eight years, having started collaborating in the 2015-16 academic year. Across that timeframe In-Play Sports have worked with many of our sports clubs, with the majority of those a part of the UoN performance sports programme.

Within this, as well as providing #GreenandGold teams with the In-Play Online software, In-Play’s experienced team of performance analysts have also filmed BUCS matches to provide video and statistical analysis data to coaches and players. In-Play Online is also utilised by many universities and their academic programmes to train the next generation of sports coaches and performance analysts on the software that they will use when they begin working in the industry.

The relationship between University of Nottingham Sport and In-Play has sought to improve team performance, develop student athletes, and finish as high in the BUCS league table as possible. The success of this aim can be seen in the success of the University of Nottingham in recent years, with In-Play’s software and knowledge playing a part in the development of the university’s performance sport programme.

Ahead of the new season University of Nottingham’s Club & Coach Development Manager Matt Nicholson said “In-Play Sports are a highly valued partner who have been supporting our clubs and coaches with performance analysis solutions for over 8 years. The dedication and professionalism of Scott, Chris and their wider team of analysists has been excellent, and we look forward to another season with them as part of the #GreenAndGold.

In-Play Sports’ Co-Founder and Director Scott Hazard added “It’s been a fantastic 8 years working alongside UoN Sport. Their sports facilities are some of the best in the country, and they have a superb sports performance programme in place. It’s always great to work with an organisation whose coaches and staff truly value areas like performance analysis and see it as a key part of the coaching process. The team at In-Play are very much looking forward to many more successful years working with UoN Sport.
