Support and guidance throughout your studies
Our friendly, talented academic staff will teach, support and guide you through your studies. Below you will find key staff members in your department with details of which areas they can provide information and support.
Head of Department
Responsibility: top level issues and formal complaints where none of the role holders below have been able to help.
Director of Teaching
Responsibility: queries regarding teaching or assessment in your department.
Course directors
Responsibility: queries with your degree/course which your personal tutor cannot help with.
Senior tutor
Responsibility: any pastoral issue which your personal tutor is unable to resolve.
Personal tutor (undergraduates and MA students)
You can view who your personal tutor is on NottinghamHub by clicking on the ‘Support’ hexagon.
Responsibility: your personal tutors are your first port of call for academic, pastoral or general queries. They will come from the lead department for your course.
Joint honours advisor (joint honours undergraduates)
You can view who your joint honours advisor is on NottinghamHub.
Responsibility: queries about the academic side of your studies in your partner department.
Module convenors
You can find the module convenor details on each module page on Moodle.
Responsibility: queries specifically relating to a module.
Director of Postgraduate Research (PhD and MRes students)
Responsibility: queries regarding your study that cannot be resolved by your supervisor.
Director of Postgraduate Taught (MA students)
Responsibility: queries regarding teaching and assessment for your course.
Lead supervisor (PhD and MRes students)
Responsibility: your supervisor is the first port of call for academic, pastoral or general queries.
