The University of Nottingham has an estimated 90 students from Bulgaria studying at our UK Campuses, based on 2012/13 data from the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA).

The Bulgarian Society is the Students’ Union’s society for students from Bulgaria or with an interest in Bulgaria, and organises social events throughout the year. The Bulgarian Society also has a Facebook group.

Please note that to study at Nottingham, you will need to demonstrate a required level of English language proficiency. The University considers a number of English language qualifications for admission.

Below is an approximate guide to entry requirements for students from Bulgaria for admission to The University of Nottingham at the following levels.

  • Foundation

     
    Applicants from Bulgaria should only consider completing a foundation course if their overall average grade in their Diploma za Sredno Obrazovanie is below 5, but above 4.

  • Undergraduate

     
    Diploma za Sredno Obrazovanie.

    Students are asked for an overall average mark ranging from 6.0 for our most competitive courses to 5.0 for our least competitive courses.

    Students with a lower overall grade are recommended to apply for a foundation course.

    A typical Diploma za Sredno Obrazovanie requirement for a course with a BBB A level entry requirement is an overall average grade of 5.2.

    Students taking APs or SATIIs should refer to entry requirements for the USA.

  • Masters

     
    A bachelor degree or higher qualifications from a recognised University will be considered for masters entry.

    Typical minimum requirements from Bulgarian universities are an average grade of at least 4 to 5 depending on the course applied for.

  • PhD & research

     
    A masters and bachelors degree from a recognised university are usually required for PhD entry.

    Exceptional students may be considered for PhD entry without a masters qualification.

    Typical minimum requirements from Bulgarian universities are an average grade of at least 4 to 5, depending on the course applied for.

    For all research degrees, we recommend that you make initial enquiries with a potential supervisor or the relevant University of Nottingham school / department before applying.  A research proposal is required when submitting your application.
