What to expect from Clearing and Adjustment

1

Results Day

If your results are better or worse than your expected, talk to an advisor at your school to see what your options are.

Got the results you wanted or higher?

You don't have to do the course you applied for. Look at what other options are available to you through Adjustment

Lower grades than expected?

Talk to an advisor at your school or careers office to see what your options are. You can apply for other courses through Clearing.

2

Consider your options

Look at the available courses through Clearing and Adjustment. You can consider different courses and subject areas, you don't have to choose something similar to your original course selection.

Find available courses

Course lists are available from:

University websites will provide an indication of the entry requirements for each course.

3

Talk to universities

Once you've found a course you're interested in, talk to the relevant University.

  1. Find the Clearing and Adjustment contact details on their website. This will usually be prominently displayed on their homepage.
  2. Make sure you have your UCAS number to hand as you will need this
  3. Call the University yourself and ask if the course you are interested in will accept you

Top tips

Get informal offers over the phone from a number of different courses and universities then decide which one you'd prefer.

Have a look around - If you have time, visit your preferred university on a Clearing Open Day or informal visit.

  3. Your chosen University will confirm you on to that course on UCAS
  4. UCAS will send you confirmation and the Choices page of Track will show as an Acceptance

Adjustment

To register for Adjustment you must have met and exceeded the conditions of your firm choice offer.

  1. Click 'Register for Adjustment' on the Choices screen in UCAS Track
  2. Send email confirmation to your chosen university. Doing this confirms your choice to join that university.
  3. Your chosen University will confirm you onto the course on UCAS

Top tips

  • Research what course you would like to do. Visit UCAS and university websites to find out more.
  • Make sure you are in the UK on results day just in case you have to go through Clearing.
  • Make sure YOU call the university, not a parent or guardian (except for extenuating circumstances)
  • Finally, stay calm and relaxed.
