About this event

Join the University of Nottingham and digital marketing agency, Hallam, as we explore some of the biggest questions in marketing. Against a backdrop rocked by geopolitical instability, the cost of living crisis and potential recession, we are bringing together some of the leading innovators in the field of marketing to discuss how we can win in business, despite the economic challenges that surround us. Our panel of creatives and marketing experts will discuss why evidence-based marketing is key to success in 2023. 

Speakers

Charlotte Tomlinson - Organic Performance Director at Hallam 

As Organic Performance Director, Charlotte leads Hallam’s award-winning SEO and content marketing teams.

With over 10 years of experience in marketing, she was previously Hallam’s Head of SEO, running many successful campaigns for B2B and B2C SMEs and enterprise-level clients. Charlotte studied English Language and Literature at Oxford University where she honed her research and analytical skills.

Andréa Williams - Head of Marketing at Retail Assist

Andréa Williams, is the Head of Marketing at Retail Assist. 

Joining Retail Assist as a placement student in 2018, Andréa quickly progressed now leading the marketing strategy and brand development for Retail Assist.

 Paul Grainge - Professor of Film and Television Studies at the University of Nottingham

Paul is Professor of Film and Television Studies at the University of Nottingham and Academic Director of Digital Nottingham, a major new initiative led by the University of Nottingham that connects digital and data-driven innovation with people, place and business in the city and East Midlands region.

Anna Murphy - Head of Marketing at Hallam 

Anna has over 12 years of content marketing experience, with a broad skill set across multiple marketing disciplines. She initially joined Hallam as a Senior Content Marketing & PR Consultant, before moving to Head of Marketing.

Anna has written for a range of publications, both as a features writer for national B2C magazines and national newspapers, and as a freelance writer, working for a range of B2C PR clients and media publications. After three years at an international retail technology company, where she developed and implemented their PR and communications strategy, Anna also gained her CIM Level 6 Diploma in Professional Marketing.

Elevator pitches

After the main presentations, we will be offering a few short slots to those who want to make an elevator pitch to the audience. If you'd like to take a one minute slot to promote your business to the network, share your news, ask for feedback or recruit partners for a collaborative project, then contact the team. These slots are open to anyone, whether from a business, another organisation, or the university itself.

This event is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund 2014-2020 and is part of Productivity Through Innovation. This event is classed as State Aid to participating businesses, the value of which is up to £100.00, but is delivered completely free of charge to participants.
