Biography

After attending school in Derby I read Electronic Engineering at the University of Wales, Bangor (then UCNW). After a period of employment at the research laboratories of the Marconi Company at Great Baddow, just outside Chelmsford, I returned to Bangor to conduct research into the microwave Hall effect in biological materials which was successfully submitted for PhD. I remained at Bangor until 1984 when I was appointed as a lecturer, later associate professor, at Nottingham.From 2004 to 2009 I was Director of Studies for the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University's Malaysia Campus. I am currently deputy-head of department.
