Contracts

Contracts for university-owned or arranged accommodation will be for a fixed period of time. Contracts are legally binding documents, so please think carefully before you sign an accommodation contract.

If you are thinking of signing a contract with a private landlord please seek advice about the terms and conditions before doing so. Staff in the Student Advice Centre at the Students' Union can help you with this.

Jamie Wooley on contracts

"You would be expected to sign a contract. The important thing to remember is that contracts are binding and they are quite difficult to get out of. When it comes to signing your contract, you should really be looking to ask for time to consider it for a couple of days and then take it away and get somebody else to check it. At the University here Unipol Student Homes has an arrangement with the Student Advice Centre and the Students’ Union where they will actually check everybody’s contract and that’s certainly something you should be doing."
