Mature students
The University of Nottingham welcomes mature students, both full-time and part-time. About 10% of our full-time undergraduate population are mature students.
These pages are primarily intended for adults interested in undergraduate study. If you are interested in postgraduate study you will find relevant information in the postgraduate prospectus.

Student life
Being a mature student is both challenging and rewarding. These current students are the best people to tell you about life at university.
Sasha Prince-Ward talking about student life with a child.
Hayley Hardwick talking about her return to education.
Janet Wilmot talking about studying part-time.
Rob Allan talking about his experience of studying Social Work.
Hillery Harrison talking about her reasons for choosing Nottingham.
Jason Tomlinson talks about leaving school with no qualifications and how he went on to complete an Access course, secure a place a Nottingham and win a Helena Kennedy Foundation Award.
The majority of your time at the University will be spent studying, but there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved in sport, student societies and events organised by the Students’ Union.
The Mature Students' Network is specifically for mature students and organises social events throughout the year.

Fees and financial help
The University provides a generous package of bursaries to support UK students from lower-income families. There are a number of additional bursaries available to undergraduate students with specific circumstances, including those studying an Access to HE Diploma or other vocational qualifications, or those with dependants. We expect that at least a third of our first-time undergraduate students will be eligible for a University of Nottingham Core Bursary.
Our fees and financial support website will provide you with more information about:
We will publish information about studying for an Equivalent or Lower Qualification (ie studying for an undergraduate degree when you have already completed or begun studying for one) on our financial support and fees pages when the details are available.
Please note: fees and finance information will be correct for 2012 entry. Information for 2013 entry may differ.
