Detail of bronze strips from Balawat gates, 9th century BC
Captured men are stripped (probably to shame them, cf. Nahum 3:5; 2Sam 10:4; Isa 20:4) and have their hands tied behind their backs and wear some kind of yoke or neck restraint (cf. Deut 28:48; Lam 1:14; and Isaiah 10:27, about the remnant of the Israelites getting free from the Assyrians; Isaiah 52:2; and Nah 1:12-13 about God saving Judah from Nineveh).
