This painting is based on the surveyed plan made by Andrew Nesbitt,
which gives information about where things are located but not what
they look like. I gathered the visual information for the trees from
my Nottingham studio window, using the same three trees repeatedly.
Andrews plan shows five people on the grass, but with no information
on what they were doing. I decided that the scene of Lee Harvey Oswalds
assassination was the most appropriate tableau I could use
here; with Jack Ruby coming out from behind the tree in the centre of
Hawley Square to shoot Lee Harvey Oswald.
