{Solenopsis fugax} Mayr (1855: 449) defined the genus Diplorhoptrum and gave a full description of D. fugax, this is at {original description}. André (1881-6: 387 ff) gave a description, with illustrations on Plate XXIV, this is at {original description}; his key separating the sexual stages is at {original description}. Thomé & Thomé's (1980b) description of karaki is at {original description}. Their description of emesus is at {original description}.

{Solenopsis fugax}There is much to be done to sort out the variour "varieties". Emery (1909a: 29) in his key gave the eyes as 5-6 facets) - Thomé & Thomé, for instance show specimens that appear to have single-facet eyes, although they fail to comment on this. With karaki they also give the head as very puncturate with a median smooth line.

Egypt records - none.
