How to apply for a chemistry research degree
Funded studentship applications
- Look on the studentships webpage to see if we have projects. These may be for UK/EU applicants only so please check eligibility.
- Follow the application details in the advert
- If you are shortlisted, you'll be invited to an interview by email. We suggest that you check your junk mail to make sure you don't miss it
- If you are successful at interview, we will ask you to submit a formal application through the University’s ‘NottinghamHub’ online portal (see finalising your application). Any offer is subject to confirmation of documents submitted with your application
Self-funded applications (including loans and scholarships)
Funding for research degrees can come from a variety of sources, including scholarships, government loans/grants, industrial sponsorship, and parental support. If you are able to take advantage of any of these funding sources, please follow these steps:
- Look at the prospectus page for information on our courses
- Find a supervisor in the School of Chemistry whose research interests match yours by looking on our four research theme profiles, which include details of supervisors. Contact the staff member directly to express an interest, discuss your project and decide how it will be funded. It is likely that an interview will take place at this stage
- Apply via the University’s ‘NottinghamHub’ online portal (see finalising your application)
