Biography
Glenn completed his MChem degree in 1999 at the University of Oxford including researching ESR-active spin-labelled calcuim ion indicators. Afterwards, he moved into software training, primarily focussed on training MS Office to advanced/expert users before returning to complete his PhD in 2014 at the University of Birmingham. His PhD research focussed on the synthesis of saccharide-based contrast agents for the early detection of cancer.
Glenn took up a teaching position in 2014 at the University of Birmingham, teaching all aspects of Chemistry to foundation year students before moving to the University of Nottingham in 2019, where he is primarily focussed on the development and delivery of the higher degree apprenticeship in Laboratory Science.
Expertise Summary
Glenn has developed significant expertise in the design, delivery and assessment of organic and physical chemistry at NVQ levels 4-5 as well as core business skills for employees within the chemistry-using industries.
Teaching Summary
Glenn is primarily involved in the delivery of the Level 6 Laboratory Science apprenticeship programme, including teaching on the following modules:
CHEM1024/33 - Professional and Business Skills 1/2
CHEM1023/31 - Foundation Laboratory Work A/B
CHEM1029/30 - Spectroscopy, Energy and Bonding A/B
