Biography
I have been teaching at higher education institutions in the UK and abroad since 1995 at postgraduate, undergraduate, presessional, and foundation levels.
Since joining the University of Nottingham in 2010, I have taught on Presessional English for Academic Purposes (PEAP) courses, Academic Language and Communication Skills (ALACS) courses, various Postgraduate programmes including: PGCE (Malaysia), MA Teaching English for Academic Purposes (MA TEAP) and MA International Higher Education. I also act as a supervisor for PhD and EdD research.
I have an MA in English Language Teaching (MA ELT) from the University of Nottingham, UK, and an EdD (Doctor of Education) from the University of Bath, UK.

I am a member of the Centre for International Education Research (CIER). I am interested in supervising doctoral candidates researching areas related to:
- The internationalisation of higher education
- Internationalisation and the Cultural Other
- Reflection and reflexivity in teaching, learning and research
- Methodological approaches and issues in education
- Academic identity
- Student experience, support and transition
- Academic writing
- Discourse analysis

Current Research
I am interested in exploring areas around the internationalisation of higher education, particularly existential internationalization, or the internationalization of the self, and reflexivity with its role in bridging the gap between Cultural Others. I am also interested in exploring the power of 'unlearning' and 'de-labelling' for communication, creativity and growth.
