Biography
Olga has been teaching and supporting students in Higher Education in the UK and the US for over 15 years. She has previously taught at New York University (USA), Fordham University (USA), and the University of Lincoln.
She holds an MA and a PhD in English from New York University (USA), as well as the Cambridge Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (DELTA). Olga is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
At the University of Nottingham, Olga teaches on and coordinates pre-sessional academic skills modules and works with international students from undergraduate to PhD levels.

Current research focuses on learning analytics and improving learner engagement when teaching and learning online.

Past Research
Olga's past research focused on the uses of figurative language in academic texts. She also presented a number of papers at conferences on multi-dimensional identity models and how the concept of intersectionality can help educators better conceptualise international students' identity constructs.
Future Research
Olga's future research aims to investigate how critical theory tools (e.g. Derrida's discussion of presence vs. absence, repetition vs. difference and binaries as hierarchies) can support and enhance learners' critical thinking and reading skills.
