Course Director, Professional Studies (Part 3) & UG Studio Head, Faculty of Engineering
Amanda Harmer ARB RIBA is a practising architect who is currently Course Director for Professional Studies (Part 3 & L7 End Point Assessment), as well as Design Studio unit head on the undergraduate programme.
She has been teaching in the Narrative Stream of Unit 4A in the Second and Third year design studio for over 20 years. During this time the work of the unit has been exhibited to local people following projects in Wakefield and Norfolk (at the Cley arts festival). Students work has been commended in the RIBA Bronze Medals and accepted for the Royal Academy summer show.
In her role as Course Director for professional studies, Amanda leads the department's delivery of our Part 3 programme as well as the End Point Assessment for the L7 Apprenticeship programme. She also undertakes tripartite reviews for the wider apprenticeship programme and undertakes a Professional Studies Advisor role, alongside teaching, where her focus in on professional ethics and contract administration.
Amanda also has various external examiner and professional examiner roles in other academic institutions, supporting Part 3 and Level 7 programmes.
