Biography

Guillermo Guzman Dumont is a Chilean Architect graduated in 1993 at UBB, Chile.

Since graduation he combined practice (Architecture and construction) with part time teaching of design studio and composition until he moved to the UK in 2000 to become a full time Lecturer in Architecture at the University of Nottingham.

During the first 6 years he was the BArch year 1 head, and since 2007 has dedicated to design studio teaching across the BArch and DipArch courses engaging his research topics with studio teaching, together with the coordination and delivery of taught modules plus running field trips and communications/journalism workshops across the department. Currently he is the BA Architectural studies course director, Web manager and the Alumni network coordinator for the department of Architecture and Built Environment. From 2007 to 2010 he was the editor of the Department's yearbook.

He is a researcher at the Creative energy homes project and was the communications director at the Nottingham HOUSE project that represented the UK at the Solar Decathlon Europe competition in June 2010.

Member of the Buildings, Energy and Environment research group, his specific research interests are in the areas of Participative Architectural Education, User Centered Sustainable Design and Identity & Technology transfer in a globalized world. His current work enhances the involvement of students in live projects, reciprocal collaboration with industrial sponsors and communications & marketing strategies to promote collaboration and innovation in design.
