Biography

Dr Sinead Hennessy is Assistant Professor in Architectural Design, and Studio Unit Head. Sinead completed her PhD thesis Aldo Rossi, Architecture and the Nature of Memory in 2021. Her study engages with existing literature and employs original archival research carried out at the Canadian Centre for Architecture, Montreal and the MAXXI, Rome, and through extensive project site visits in Italy. Sinead was formerly partner in a Design Build studio, where she worked on the renovation of historic buildings in Italian hill villages, engaging with local authorities to bring about regeneration in rural areas. Sinead is interested in communicating complex ideas relating to the theory of architecture, and has a unique approach to design that has developed directly from her research into aesthetic and symbolic devices, and the role of memory in architecture. She is currently working on a publication relating to the nature of memory in architecture.
