Dr Zheng joined the University of Nottingham as an Anne McLaren Fellow in 2023, where she is investigating novel approaches (e.g. chemical looping, plasma-assisted processing) to generating carbon-free fuels (e.g. ammonia, hydrogen) with low emissions. Her research also extends to addressing the direct removal of carbon emissions from diverse industrial processes, including such as steel manufacturing and silicon wafer production. Dr Zheng's research expertise covers material catalysis, plasma technology, chemical looping, and process design/modelling.
Prior to taking the academic position at Nottingham, Dr Zheng completed her PhD and postdoc research at the University of Cambridge, where she worked with Prof Stuart A. Scott in various EPSRC and Innovate UK projects on hydrogen production, carbon capture and gas purification applications (e.g. removal of combustibles in wafer manufacturing). She has also supervised/co-supervised numerous Mphil and PhD projects working on fuel synthesis, chemical looping, fluidisation, separation, and plasma catalysis.
