Associate Professor, Faculty of Engineering
Dr. Lawes is an Associate Professor and Course Director of the Mechanical Engineering Course at the University of Nottingham. Prior to this post he worked at the University of Leicester, where he obtained a BEng in General Engineering in 2005, a PhD in the study of wear resistant thin films for automotive applications in 2009, and worked as senior experimental officer in the Mechanics of Materials research group 2008 through to 2012. His research area is Manufacturing Metrology and his thematic interests include the principles and practice of design.
Dr Simon Lawes is part of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Research Group
Dr. Lawes's teaching is focused on the theory and practice of design.
