Biography
Miquel started his degree near Barcelona and graduated from an integrated masters in Chemistry in 2009 from Nottingham Trent University. He then moved into Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at The University of Nottingham, undertaking a PhD on the tailored continuous synthesis of targeted nanomaterials for applications ranging from gas storage and sensing to body armour and bioceramics for medical implants. He is currently a Research Fellow in Advanced Materials and part of the Advanced Materials Research Group. In the BENcH project, his role focuses on the synthesis and characterisation of the nanoparticles.
Expertise Summary
One of his most recent challenges has been working with the Power Electronics, Machines and Control Research Group (PEMC) on their electric superbike.
After a successful 2014 season racing an electric motorbike donated by Agni Motors, PEMC decided to buy a more powerful motor for 2015. With concerns over what modifications the old frame would need to accommodate the new motor, they reached out to colleagues within the faculty for somebody to help.
Future Research
I welcome enquiries from potential PhD candidates from Home, EU and international countries who are interested in the following research areas: high power density electric drives, mechatronics, composite materials, electric racing vehicles.
