Biography
Tania was awarded a PhD from the University of Sheffield in 2018 under it's Imagine: Imaging Life studentship for developing a novel application of light sheet microscopy to study sperm-female interactions in the reproductive tracts of birds using the songbird zebra finch as a model. In 2018, she joined the Optics and Photonics Research Group at the University of Nottingham as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow with Dr Amanda Wright's group. In her current role, she is developing a combined light sheet and optical trapping system that will later include a multiplane imaging system, currently being developed by collaborators at Heriot-Watt University. This instrument will enable us to make micro-mechnical measurements while simultaneously imaging the cell in 4D (x,y,z,time (t)) - allowing us to understand how cells sense the extracellular matrix local to them as they migrate through it.
