Current Research
I am developing a novel perfectionist theory of well-being that can be used in the quest to understand how our lives can go well for us. I will be drawing on the political philosophy of Hannah Arendt, specifically her notion of 'the human condition', in order to provide a resolution to the philosophical objections that are found within current perfectionist theories.
By asserting that political action (as defined by Arendt) is intrinsically valuable, I hope to show how my theory could be used to argue for the state promotion of an individual's own search for what is good for themselves; and to introduce a framework that provides a way for individuals to discover what will be good for themselves via inclusive and equitable political action.
