Your Residential Experience Team (ResX) is available 7 days a week, from the day you arrive, until the day you leave, to support you to settle and thrive in your new home, and the fantastic community that you will belong to as a student at the University of Nottingham.

Helping you make the most of your time in halls we host a range of events from big to small to help you connect with others and enjoy your time in halls. Our events are aimed to help you thrive in halls and develop as a person, learn a new skill or just have some fun.

We offer a supportive and non-judgemental wellbeing service for all our hall students. We can help with a wide range of issues and challenges that you are facing. Highlighting the amazing community we are a part of and setting expectations of behaviour across our halls.

Accommodation options

Cloister House offers excellent value for money in self-catered shared flats, with parking included. Each self-catered flat features 7 Standard Bedrooms that share a kitchen and 2 bathrooms, all bedrooms feature a vanity unit too. This property is exclusively available to Postgraduate students in the Dunkirk area of Nottingham.

There is a dedicated and friendly team available 24 hours a day via the Broadgate Park reception, there is also an onsite maintenance and housekeeping team who are available to provide support whenever you need them. The close-knit Cloister House community of Postgraduate residents also has access to social spaces at Broadgate Park: The Courtyard, Library and The Lounge.

Refurbishment works are scheduled to take place at Cloister House in August 2026. During this time, all Cloister House residents will be relocated to Broadgate Park and given a complimentary room upgrade until the end of their licence.

UPP are committed to making the transition as smooth as possible and will be providing moving assistance and transport for students and their belongings during the move.

Location of Cloister House

Cloister House is ideally located on a quiet residential street in Dunkirk, a 10-minute walk to the University of Nottingham, making the neighbourhood perfect for students looking for a quieter student lifestyle. There is a Sainsbury's nearby for all your shopping needs, you can also reach the city centre easily by the bus or tram, where you can find several chain restaurants and shops, making it a great shopping destination for students.

Important information

Contract details

To finalise your offer you will be required to read and accept a licence/tenancy agreement and terms and conditions from your accommodation provider UPP Broadgate Park.

We highly recommend that you read this along with a parent, guardian, carer, or school representative, as this is a legally binding document.

You will be accepting liability for the full tenancy length of 44 weeks a year for undergraduates, or 51 weeks a year for postgraduates, including vacation periods. Once you have moved in you are liable to pay for the duration of your licence period.

The University will take payments only and are not legally able to influence contractual issues.

Payment information

Your first payment is due prior to arrival and should be paid via the NottinghamHub (University of Nottingham Student Hub). Undergraduate students who are reliant on a Student Finance England maintenance loan to pay their accommodation fees will be able to make a minimum payment of £250 payment plus £250 damage deposit prior to arrival. The £250 minimum payment will then be deducted from your first period instalment with the balance due before 3 October 2025.

Student maintenance loans and grants are paid to you directly by the Student Loans Company into your bank account (as per the details you have provided them). The Student Loans Company will provide you with a Payment Timetable so that you know what amount you will receive into your bank account each term.

If you will require a payment plan because you wish to amend your instalments to three equal amounts or you are self-funding and wish to pay by monthly instalment, you will need to email Student Account Services on sas@nottingham.ac.uk

Student route visa applications

Students who are reliant upon securing a Student route visa should not make any payment for their accommodation until the visa has been granted. If a visa has not been secured by the first payment date, please email Student Account Services on sas@nottingham.ac.uk
