If applying for quiet accommodation, students do so on the basis they will need to show extra consideration to their neighbours in keeping noise to a minimum wherever possible. Applicants who do not request quiet accommodation will not be assigned it.

Our Quiet Hall accommodation benefits from alcohol free study and social areas and areas which are designated quiet accommodation. All students are happy to support the expectation that after 9pm, no avoidable noise or music should be heard in adjacent corridors or rooms.

Catered Hall

Our catered Meal Plans offer healthy, tasty and freshly cooked food for diverse dietary requirements. We use sustainable and quality-assured ingredients like free-range eggs, Red Tractor-assured meat and sustainably farmed fish. Halls with 39-week contracts get 35 weeks of catering, and 31-week contracts receive 31 weeks of catering. Both include 12 meals per week.

Your Meal Plan includes:

  • Light breakfast is served Monday-Friday in hall dining room. Residents can access a hot breakfast at the following dining rooms, Atrium, Cripps, Derby, Nightingale, Cavendish and Florence Boot.
  • A weekly allowance of £25 will be loaded onto your University card to spend on your lunchtime meal; this can be used at multiple cafes, restaurants and shops across our campuses.
  • Dinner served Monday - Friday in hall dining room.
  • Weekend provision consisting of Brunch and Dinner of which you can attend 2 meals which are included in the catering package. You can pay for additional meals over the weekend via the dining rooms at the Atrium, Cripps, Derby, Nightingale, Cavendish and Florence Boot.

In partnership with UoN Sport and as Sports University of the year 2024, the Active Living package provides exclusive sport, fitness and active events for students living in University halls on University Park and Jubilee campus, plus Dagfa and Varsity.

To finalise your offer, you will be required to read and accept a licence/tenancy agreement and terms and conditions from your accommodation provider University of Nottingham.

We highly recommend that you read this along with a parent, guardian, carer or school representative, as this is a legally binding document.

You will be accepting liability for the full tenancy length of 39 weeks, including vacation periods.  Once you have moved in you are liable to pay for the duration of your licence period.

Payment information

Your first payment is due prior to arrival and should be paid via the NottinghamHub (University of Nottingham Student Hub). Undergraduate students who are reliant on a Student Finance England maintenance loan to pay their accommodation fees will be able to make a minimum payment of £250 payment prior to arrival. The £250 minimum payment will then be deducted from your first period instalment with the balance due on 7 October 2024.

Student maintenance loans and grants are paid to you directly by the Student Loans Company into your bank account (as per the details you have provided them). The Student Loans Company will provide you with a Payment Timetable so that you know what amount you will receive into your bank account each term.

If you will require a payment plan because you wish to amend your instalments to three equal amounts or you are self-funding and wish to pay by monthly instalment, you will need to email Student Account Services on sas@nottingham.ac.uk

Student route visa applications

Students who are reliant upon securing a Student route visa should not make any payment for their accommodation until the visa has been granted. If a visa has not been secured by the first payment date, please email Student Account Services on sas@nottingham.ac.uk

Are there any kitchen areas to make snacks?

If you feel hungry outside of meal times, you will find pantries in each hall with a sink, kettle, toaster and microwave.

Can you cater for specific dietary requirements?

If you have specific dietary requirements contact our catering team, by emailing BH-Hallscatering@nottingham.ac.uk, before you accept your accommodation offer to confirm that we are able to meet your needs.

Is bedding provided?

Most students bring their own bedding, but bedding packs for you to keep are available from our online store.

What security is provided in halls on campus?

With 24-hour security, secure campuses and card-only access to your hall, we make sure your environment is always safe and secure.

What cleaning is included in catered halls?

Bedrooms are cleaned once a month, shared bathrooms are cleaned once a fortnight, communal areas (bathrooms, pantries/corridors/stairwells and public areas) cleaned daily Monday to Friday.

When will I be able to move in?

You will book your arrival date and time during your accommodation induction, this is normally completed before your arrival. You will be emailed when you need to complete this induction.

Arrivals for 2024/25 will be Friday 20 & Saturday 21 September 2024

Will there be any works close to or in my hall?

There may be some halls maintenance required in halls, any disruption will be kept to a minimum.

What accommodation is available for Under 18's?

If you are under the age of 18 and joining the University of Nottingham there will be some additional rules in place for you to follow to safeguard you and provide support and wellbeing where needed. 

One of these rules is accommodation will only be offered at either Lincoln Hall on University Park and Newark Hall, Jubilee Campus.

Does my room come with a fridge?

The majority of our catered halls and rooms do not come with a fridge in the room.  You can access a shared fridge in the pantry on your floor. 

Some of our halls do provide small fridges in your room, these are;

  • Cripps Hall
  • Cavendish Hall
  • Nightingale Hall
  • Derby Hall

If you require a fridge in your room for the storage of medicine or for a specific need, you can make a request through our access and individual requirements page.
