Does my room come with a fridge?
Most of our catered halls and rooms do not have a fridge in the room. You can access a shared fridge in the pantry on your floor.
Some of our halls do provide small fridges in your room, these are;
- Cripps Hall
- Cavendish Hall
- Nightingale Hall
- Derby Hall
If you require a fridge in your room for the storage of medicine or for a specific need, you can make a request through our access and individual requirements page.
Can I bring a fridge for my room?
Yes, you can bring your own fridge into your bedroom, however, there are some criteria you have to meet.
- The fridge must be 45 litres or less
- The fridge must be new, with receipts to show this, or you must have an in-date PAT test if the fridge is more than a year old.
- Fridges must be declared on the electrical inventory form.
- The fridge must be removed from the room at the end of your contract or each term if 31 weeks. Halls do not offer fridge storage during the vacation periods. Any fridges left in 31-week rooms during the vacation period are left at your own risk.
- The fridge must be kept clean and maintained. You will be liable for any damage to the room caused by leaks, etc.
- If the fridge is not working/broken, it is your responsibility to fix/dispose of it.
- Returning students can have their fridge PAT tested rather than purchase a new one.
