Associate Professor Alex Lechner from University of Nottingham Malaysia was recently interviewed on the Malaysian Television program “Let’s Talk with Sharaad Kuttan”. It is a 30-minute programme that dissects and takes a deeper look into news, stories and current issues that matter. On the show he discusses the impacts of infrastructure development from China’s Belt and Road (BRI) initiative on biodiversity. The BRI is the largest infrastructure program this century and is expected to connect half the worlds population with land and marine infrastructure routes.
Dr Alex Lechner is a Landscape Ecologist with experience in applying spatially explicit modelling to conservation biology and natural resource management. He currently works as an Associate Professor at the School of Environmental and Geographical Sciences at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus where he leads the Landscape Ecology and Conservation lab.
