Executive Education delivered the first University of Nottingham Winter School
In early February 2025, Executive Education delivered the first University of Nottingham Winter School for 20 undergraduate students from Shanghai University of Medicine and Health Science.
The 10 day programme, held across University of Nottingham campuses, focused on ‘Future Technology and Human Health’. Sessions were delivered by a team of academic staff from the School of Medicine, plus representatives from the University of Nottingham Information Skills team, Academic Skills team and University of Nottingham Sport.
Highlights of the programme were the interactive Virtual Reality workshops, hands on simulation experiences and an energetic presentation skills session. The programme in Nottingham concluded with student presentations, followed by a farewell dinner and certificate presentations, and was followed by two nights in London before the students returned to China.
Professor Claire Stewart, Dean and Head of the School of Medicine, who led the programme, said:
“I am delighted to celebrate the successful completion of this year's Winter School. This programme has provided an invaluable opportunity for students to explore the transformative role of emerging technologies in healthcare. From AI-driven diagnostics to precision medicine and digital health solutions, they have engaged with cutting-edge innovations that will shape the future of patient care. Witnessing their enthusiasm, curiosity, and commitment to learning has been truly inspiring.
"I greatly value this international collaboration and look forward to welcoming these students back to Nottingham for further shared learning and research opportunities.”
Nick Proverbs, Senior Operations Manager for Executive Education at Nottingham University Business School added:
“I am absolutely delighted with the successful delivery of the Winter School to students from the Shanghai University of Medicine and Health Science. Every student was a true credit to their university, demonstrating exceptional politeness, enthusiasm, and a strong willingness to learn. It has been a pleasure to support their journey, and I look forward to welcoming them back to the University of Nottingham in the future.”
This Winter School was the first of a number of planned Winter and Summer Schools to showcase the innovation, research and expertise at the University of Nottingham which provide such a fantastic experience for international students.
