New foraging maps at Jubilee Campus
The Jubilee Campus is home to a wide range of edible plants including apples, crab apples, oregano, chives, and even a grapevine. Recently, the Edible Campus Project at Nottingham University Business School partnered with the Sustainability Team’s Wilding Campuses project to organise foraging walks and introduce new foraging maps for Jubilee and University Park campuses.
Local foraging expert Paul Paine, who helped create the maps, led walks around campuses exploring hidden areas rich with edible plants, including cooking and preparation tips. This initiative also includes other activities such as bulb planting and hedgehog-friendly litter picking to enhance the campus ecosystem.
Wilding campuses project
Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, this pilot project partners with the University of Nottingham, Nottingham College, and Bluecoat Aspley Academy to reintroduce nature into campus spaces. Running from May 2024 to May 2026, it aims to enrich biodiversity and engage students, staff, and young people through practical skills and eco-friendly activities.
