Nottingham University Business School welcomes seven additional Professors of Practice
Professor Andrew Bacon
At the start of 2024, we were delighted to welcome seven additional Professors of Practice to Nottingham University Business School. Each Professor of Practice adds value to the School, bringing their expertise, connections, and knowledge to enhance our students’ experience, fresh perspectives to our research activities and helping us to connect with new partners and networks.
“Being appointed as a Professor of Practice at Nottingham University Business school is a great honour,” said Head of Leadership and Partner Development, EMEA IBM Consulting, Keith Burgess. “I have volunteered over the past ten years as an IBM Academic Ambassador, as an Entrepreneur in Residence, and as an Honorary Fellow. Last year this was recognised with an award as Alumni Volunteer of the Year. Being a Professor of Practice will allow me to do even more to share my business network and experience with staff, students, and other members of the Business School.”
The Professors of Practice come from a range of backgrounds including commercial, policy and public sector organisations and will be involved in many aspects of the work of the School including:
- supporting our teaching through lectures, participation in curriculum transformation programmes
- supporting our research through the development of knowledge transfer partnerships and academic consultancy
- enhancement of our external engagement activities
- supporting our careers team in the development and delivery of personal professional development activities
“This new cohort of Professors of Practice bring a wealth of expertise from a range of sectors, building on our existing network of industry experts,” said Professor Andrew Bacon, Associate Dean for External Engagement. “I look forward to working with them as we build our community of practice across the School.”
