The Nottingham MBA ranks among the world's best for sustainability education
Nottingham University Business School has risen fifteen places in the annual Corporate Knights Better World (2024) MBA Ranking to rank 18th in the world for its MBA programme.
Published on November 7, 2024, the annual top 40 ranking identifies global MBA programmes that focus on sustainable development and which advance ‘clean capitalism’ – businesses that price in social, economic, and ecological benefits and costs - and recognise the importance of practitioners realising the consequences of their actions.
Nottingham students learn sustainability leadership
Nottingham’s full-time MBA in the UK and Malaysia includes a sustainable business simulation course that aims to increase students’ understanding of what they require to be sustainable business leaders. Students gain first-hand experience of leadership roles in sustainability, and the complexities of creating sustainability strategies, to ensure shared value for companies, their stakeholders, and the environment.
Andrew Corcoran, Head of MBA Programmes (International), said: “Placing among the best business schools in the world for sustainability education acknowledges our fundamental mission to develop forward thinking leaders who bring ethical, inclusive and creative capabilities to their management practices.”
In teaching and practice, the Better World MBA ranking recognises Nottingham University Business School’s leadership in driving the sustainability agenda as critical for organisational practice, institutional improvement, and governmental policy, to foster a better world.
Dean of Nottingham University Business School, Professor David Park said:
“I'm delighted that our MBA is ranked in the top 20 in the world on this key topic when assessed against the world's best business schools. It is our responsibility to support all our students, their organisations, and their communities to seek better, more sustainable ways of working now and into the future.”
Methodology
To determine the ranking, Corporate Knights evaluated 174 global MBAs, including the programmes in the 2024 Financial Times Global MBA ranking. Corporate Knights assesses MBA programmes for the proportion of sustainable development concepts in the core curriculum and the percentage of recent alumni employed in impact organisations. All data is taken from publicly available sources.
Full coverage of the ranking is published in the Corporate Knights annual Education and Youth issue and online.
