Robert has an academic background in Information Systems as well as relevant industrial and business experience in information systems design and development. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and an MSc in Information Management (Distinction) from The University of Sheffield. He received his doctoral degree from the iSchool at The University of Sheffield in 2011 titled "Defining Vernacular Regions using Knowledge from Unstructured Web Data Sources". He previously worked as a Teaching Associate in OMIS at NUBS, and before that on the amePLM FP7 project looking at GDSS within PLM systems.
Robert teaches on Data Management and Manipulation (MSc), Computers in Business (UG),Information System Design and Development (MSc), Technology and Organisation (UG).

Research interests are related to Information and Knowledge Systems, Geographic Information Systems, Group Decision Support Systems (GDSS), Location Based Services and geography. Investigated the design and use of Group Decision Support Systems (GDSS) for managing products across the product lifecycle.
