Chengqi Wang is Professor of Strategy and International Business. He joined Nottingham University Business School in 2007. Prior to this appointment, he worked at the Centre for International Business, University of Leeds (CIBUL) at Leeds University Business School during 2000 and 2007. In total, he has published over 50 papers in refereed international journals such as Journal of International Business Studies (31(3), 33(4), 38(3), 43(7)), Research Policy (47(1), 47(7), 44 (3)), and Journal of World Business (51(2), 55 (3), and 57 (3)). Professor Chengqi Wang ranks within the top 1.75% and 1.26% globally in the fields of Business Management and Business Administration, respectively, according to ScholarGPS's lifetime 2022 rankings. Additionally, he is positioned within the top 0.53% worldwide for research in foreign direct investment. Journal of International Management (AJG 3*, 2016, Volume 22, Issue 4) ranks him world no. 11th in research on multinational firms from emerging markets based on impact score. He has conducted various projects supported by British Academy, Japan Foundation Endowments Committee, Sino-British Fellowship Trust, Universities' China Committee in London, Natural Science Foundation of China (both key and general programs), National Social Science Foundation of China (Key Program), Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Ningbo city government, China. In total, he has obtained research founding around £510000. His research has been recognized in the form of prestigious academic awards. He is the winners of First Class 'The Ann Tse Kai Prize' in 2014, 'IBR Best Published Paper Award' in 2013, 'Best Paper Award' at the British Academy of Management (BAM) Annual Conference in 2008, and 'Palgrave Best Paper Award' at the Academy of International Business (AIB UK&I) in 2002.
He has examined PhD students at universities such as Cambridge University, Edinburgh University, Monash University, Warwick University, Durham University, Leeds University. He sits on the editorial board of Research Policy (Advisory Editor), Management and Organization Review, and International Journal of the Economics of Business. He holds visiting Professor positions in City University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Metropolitan University and several leading Universities in China such as Renmin University of China, Zhejiang University, and Huazhong University of Science & Technology. He has taught in Singapore, South Korea and China and has advised international organizations such as the European Union and both British government and Chinese government (central and local), in additional to business sector.
He has undertaken several administrative roles, such as Head of Department (Strategy and International Business) and Research Director of Department (Strategy and International Business).
