Dr Lizzie Dolan is a Research Fellow in Health Data Science at the University of Nottingham, based in the N/LAB research centre (www.nlab.org.uk). She holds an MSc in Computing (Distinction) and a PhD in the Digital Economy, titled Diagnosing Disease with Shopping Data, with expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, geospatial health surveillance, and the use of large-scale consumer data to address public health challenges and health inequalities.
Her research focuses on integrating behavioural signals from commercial data (e.g. loyalty cards, retail purchases, pharmacy transactions) with clinical and demographic information to improve early detection, disease monitoring, and health service design. She has led projects on ovarian cancer, respiratory illness, urogenital infections (including current work on BV), and women's health, and is part of the national evaluation of the Pharmacy First service (NIHR). She also contributes to wider work on nutrition, food environments, and the use of consumer sales data to explore inequalities in access and behaviour, including projects on food poverty and childhood obesity.
