Dr. Ja Ryong Kim, CFA, is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of Nottingham, recognised for his substantial contributions to both academia and the industry. With over a decade of higher education experience, Dr. Kim has excelled in various leadership roles, including serving as the Director of the PwC Flying Start Accountancy Programme from 2021 to 2023. Under his leadership, the programme became the largest of its kind in the UK, significantly improving student graduation rates and employment outcomes.

In the realm of research, Dr. Kim has published extensively in high-ranking journals such as AJG 3* (ABDC A* & A), such as in Energy Economics, Technology Forecasting and Social Changes, and Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance. He also regularly reviews academic manuscripts for international-level academic journals, such as Accounting and Business Research, British Accounting Review, Business Ethics: A European Review, Journal of Financial Reporting and Accounting, and Risk Governance and Control. His work spans several critical areas including artificial intelligence, financial accounting, corporate governance, and data analytics. His expertise is further highlighted by his Microsoft certifications as a Data Analyst and Advanced Educator, aligning his academic pursuits with practical technological applications. He has successfully supervised six PhD students in topics ranging from artificial intelligence, government subsidies in the technology industry, green credits, corporate governance, and Islamic corporate governance.

Beyond his research and teaching, Dr. Kim has significant board-level experience. He serves as a National Council Member and Co-Vice Chair of the Business Performance Committee at Co-op Group, the largest co-operative group in the UK with £11bn turnover, a Trustee at Life Multi-Academy Trust, an educational institution with 10 schools and 8,000 students, and a Treasurer Director at Home-Start Erewash. These roles underscore his commitment to applying his financial and managerial expertise to broader societal benefits.

Dr. Kim's academic leadership is complemented by his involvement as an external examiner at prestigious institutions like the University of Liverpool and OMNES Education London School, ensuring the quality and rigour of accounting and finance education across the UK. His professional affiliations include membership in the CFA Society UK, the Institute of Directors, and the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA). In recognition of his excellence in teaching and contributions to the academic community, Dr. Kim has received numerous recognitions, including the Lord Dearing Award and several scholarships during his academic career.
