Nahid's current research is on the interface of sustainability, global operation, and systems thinking, as featured in the Research & Knowledge Exchange section.
Nahid research lies at the interface of sustainability, global operation, and systems thinking, with primary ongoing project in the following areas:
SYSTEM APPROACH to MODEL COMPLEX & WICKED PROBLEMS
Stakeholder mental modelling and knowledge mapping techniques.
In my recent project on East Midlands Airport decarbonisation- East Midland Airports Green Future Studies (EMAGFS)- I used knowledge mapping techniques, i.e. Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCMs), to holistically represent an ecosystem of energy and transport and structure the complex problem situation that emerges from contrasting perspectives of different stakeholders on the use of the system.
I aspire to deepen my impact within the energy sector, specifically focusing on the social acceptability of energy transitions and the Net-zero journey. Leveraging my extensive industry network and research expertise, I aim to contribute significantly to the discourse on energy technologies and their societal implications, highlighting social science impact. I envision leading interdisciplinary projects that bridge social sciences and engineering to drive meaningful change in energy policy and practice.
EXPORT OPERATION & FIRM PERFORMANCE
Quantitative: Survey of Export managers
The data is collected as part of a collaborative project named "Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century," involving academics from 17 countries across different continents. The project examines firms' international activities, including their internationalisation strategies, export market entry portfolio management, export product adaptation, innovativeness, and international corporate social responsibility.
CEOs, R&D, & SOCIAL INNOVATION
Mixed method: CEO interviews and datasets.
Supervising two PhDs projects, one exploring "The Role of CEOs' Political Promotion and Ranking in Firm R&D Investment, utilising listed companies database. The other investigating," Corporate Social Innovation (CSI) Strategy in Financial Sector: The Influence of CEO Characteristics in CSI", utilises the mixed method.
