Robert is an Honorary Associate Professor and economist, formerly Assistant Professor in Industrial Economics (Research & Teaching) and Division Teaching Director at the University of Nottingham. Prior to joining the Industrial Economics Division in 2019, Robert served as Lecturer in Economics at the University of Liverpool between 2016-2019, where he also completed his PhD.

Robert's research areas are Industrial Economics (theory), Game Theory, Microeconomic Theory and Behavioural Economics. In Industrial Economics, his research interests include: optimal pricing and promotions of firms, optimal decision processes of consumers and the role of regulation and competition policy on prices and promotions. One recent paper, published in Oxford Economic Papers, studies the incentives for firms to deliberately confuse consumers with unnecessarily complicated pricing schemes and the role of regulation.

In Microeconomic Theory, Robert's work focuses on the existence and characterisation of equilibrium in games of price competition. Robert is also a member of the European Association for Research in Industrial Economics (EARIE) and regularly presents his research at leading international conferences. Robert also serves as a reviewer for leading academic journals and evaluates grant applications for the ESRC.

In terms of teaching, Robert has delivered a range of courses in Microeconomics and Industrial Economics at all undergraduate levels.
