Dr Subhan Ullah is Associate Professor in Accounting and Departmental External Engagement Director at Nottingham University Business School. Previously he was the Departmental Research Director at University of Nottingham between January 2020 and April 2024. He is a member of the Advisory Board of research policy ThinkTank, Alternate Solutions Institute, Pakistan. He is currently Associate Editor at: (a) International Journal of Finance & Economics (Wiley), and, (b) Environment, Development and Sustainability (Springer).
Subhan has 18 years of academic experience. Prior to joining Nottingham, he was a Lecturer in Accounting and Programme Director of MSc Accounting and Finance at the University of Hull. He has extensive experience of teaching in several institutions, including, Nottingham Trent University, University of Buckingham, The Open University, COMSATS University (Pakistan), University of Peshawar (Pakistan) and Allied Bank Limited (Training Academy).
Subhan Ullah is a Senior Fellow of HEA and is a member of CPA (Australia). His research in the area of corporate governance appears in leading international journals, namely, British Journal of Management, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, International Review of Financial Analysis, International Journal of Finance and Economics, Annals of Operations Research, Journal of Business Research, Industrial Marketing Management, Technological Forecasting & Social Change, Journal of Environmental Management, and others.
Subhan has examined several doctoral thesis and have supervised more than 500 master dissertations in the UK and abroad over the past 18 years. Since 2017, he is member of the Academic Council and Board of Studies at Abasyn University, Peshawar (Pakistan).
He has been involved in several impactful research projects, including ESRC funded project on 'Women's

His research on governance, and Covid Crisis appears on the websites of leading international policy making bodies, like the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), World Health Organisation, and The Global Innovation Magazine.
He frequently appears on television Talk Shows in Pakistan, and his work is featured in leading international media outlets like Foreign Policy News, and the Conversation.
Areas of ExpertiseSubhan's research interests include issues relating to: corporate governance, governance disclosure, CSR disclosure, sustainability reporting, disclosure on global warming and climate change. He has also a strong interest in market-based accounting research.
