Dr. Akbari holds the position of Associate Professor within the Operations Management and Information Systems division at Nottingham University Business School (NUBS). He initially joined NUBS in 2018 as an Assistant Professor. Before this, from February 2017 to June 2018, he served as an Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at MEF University in Istanbul, Turkey. His academic journey began as an Instructor at Koc University in Istanbul, Turkey, where he completed his PhD in Industrial Engineering and Operations Management. Prior to this, Dr Akbari obtained his BSc in Industrial Engineering from Sharif University of Technology.
Dr. Akbari's research has found its place in top management science and operational research journals such as the European Journal of Operational Research, Transportation Research Part B: Methodological, International Journal of Production Research, and Computers & Operations Research. His research endeavours primarily revolve around leveraging the potential of Operational Research and Machine Learning to address decision-making challenges, with a significant focus on the transportation sector, while extending his expertise to other domains as well.
