Research Topic:
Reducing the impact of no-shows in healthcare by data-driven patient scheduling

Research Details:
This PhD research aims to address the issues of patients missing their healthcare appointments. It plans to use advanced data analysis techniques to accurately predict when patients might not show up, providing confidence scores to enhance reliability. Another goal is to integrate these predictive models with appointment scheduling systems, suggesting the best time slots and limits for overbooking to manage the impact of no-shows. Additionally, the research recognizes the importance of minimizing patient wait times, optimizing resource use, and managing doctors' time effectively. To achieve these goals, methods like data mining, meta-heuristic search, and machine learning will be used to analyze historical admission data. Simulation modeling and optimization will refine these models, leading to the development of a prototype tool for making informed decisions. The research aims to improve patient scheduling, reduce wait times, and enhance resource allocation, ultimately improving overall healthcare efficiency and effectiveness.
