Research Topic:The Impact of Social Media Use on Organisational Commitment in Higher Education in Saudi Arabia
Research Details:This study will provide a deeper understanding of the impact of social media use on organisational commitment at work in the context of the higher education sector in Saudi Arabia. The study is focusing on components of commitment and, more specifically, on the types of antecedents concerning social media utilisation (SM) as well as organisational commitment (OC). In other words, this study is about the impact of social media use on workplace commitment, and starts by exploring and understanding organisational commitment and the three components of commitment. Moreover, the study contributes to a growing body of critical research that calls for an examination of the relationship between the use of social media as a mediator (as a new way to use social media while working with the common method of work in higher education) and different antecedent factors as moderators of organisational commitment. This study will consequently contribute towards the use of social media and organisational commitment literature by shedding light on the role of the antecedents of commitment such as personal and job characteristics, and work experience. A critical examination of current research on social media use and commitment reveals that numerous studies use an organisational commitment perspective to consider the human resource management departments or the managers (e.g. The people with managerial roles) in the organisation, even though they are all important in explaining organisational commitment. This research will accordingly use the impact of social media use on commitment in the workplace, which has become part of the employee's commitment to their employer and toward the organisation's goals and job engagement.
