Research Topic:The Determinants of the Fixed versus Floating Mix of Debt
Research Details:This study attempts to examine how firms decide on the mix of fixed- and floating-rate debt . Most long-term bonds offer a fixed rate at the time of issue while the interest payment on bank loans is commonly floating. The liquid and deep swap markets in most countries enable firms to issue any type of debt that is cheaper and then swap into their preferred structure. This study will look at the decision of whether to employ fixed- or floating-rate debt and potential factors that may affect this decision.
