Sustainable development in Chile conference

'Sustainable Development in Chile and Latin America, Where is the missing link?' is a conference that aims to offer a space for discussion and reflection on the challenges faced by Chile and Latin America on their way towards Sustainable Development. It is part of the ChileGlobal Seminars UK series

Panel sessions will explore four major strands:This trans-disciplinary conference welcomes different points of views and disciplines, coming from academia, NGOs, industry, politics and any professional committed to the sustainable development in Chile and Latin America. Special focus on four thematic areas: Energy and innovation; public policies and governance; poverty and inequalities; and education.

The conference also features prominent speakers:

  • Andres Velasco is an economist and professor. He served as the Finance Minister of Chile from March 2006 to March 2010, the whole of the first presidential period of Michelle Bachelet. He is currently Professor of Professional Practice in International Development at Columbia University School and the President of Citizens political party. 
  • Carlos Vargas is Senior Project Officer for the Education Research and Foresight Unit at UNESCO. Before joining UNESCO, he worked for civil society and regional organisations, local governments and universities in Mexico and Spain combining his roles both as researcher and practitioner of adult learning and education.

The conference is supported by ChileGlobal Network, The University of Nottingham Global Engagement Office and Nottingham University Business School.

This is a free-admission event, but pre-registration is required, as the number of participants is limited.
